OREGON: A STATEWIDE TOP-10 COLDEST OCTOBER IN 2019

It was a much drier than normal October in 2019 as the statewide average in Oregon was just 1.60″, only 65% of the 1895-2019 Normal of 2.46″.  However, the persistent chilly weather, especially in the northern half of the state, was the more important story this month.  Overall, it was the 4th coldest October in the last 125 years with a Mean Temperature of 43.2°, just 1.0° short of the coldest of all time which occurred exactly 100 years prior in 1919.  The Average Minimum Temperature ranked even higher as the 31.1° was 2nd coldest of all time (tied with 1949) and just 1.1° behind 1st place from back in 1916. The Average Maximum Temperature only ranked 10th coldest with an average of 55.4°, a full 2.7°  above the #1 of 52.7° in 1946.
