TEMPERATURES
Due to persistent cloudiness over the first half of April, the month started off chilly with little variation in temperatures. Maximum temperatures reached their lowest daily levels just before mid-month, averaging just 52.3° from the 10th-15th, with the month’s lowest daily Maximum of 49.4° occurring in the middle of this period (on the 13th) while the warmest Minimum for the entire month was, oddly, at the beginning with 51.0° (on the 2nd). From 15th through the end of the month, skies remained partly cloudy to clear, resulting in more of a diurnal range in temperatures (vs. the first two weeks), which were thus: 1st-15th 10.6°; 16th-30th 21.7°. Due to the lack of cloudiness, Maximum Temperatures increased while Minimum Temperatures dropped during the second half; the month’s warmest daily reading was 77.3° on the 18th, the coldest waited until the 28th when it fell to a frosty 36.1°.
PRECIPITATION
It was a the tale of two Aprils as the first half was wet, the second half unusually dry for this time of year; 92% of the April total precipitation fell during the first 15 days (4.64″ of the 5.05″ monthly total). There were 14 consecutive days with measurable precipitation (4th-17th) resulting in a total of 4.58″ of rain. The final 11 days of the month (20th-30th) recorded a total of only 0.13″, parts of which fell on 3 separate days.

MISCELLANEOUS
Sky cover for the month was thus: 6 clear, 14 partly cloudy, and 10 cloudy days were observed. There were 15 days having fog but none of these were heavy (<1/4 mile visibility). One day of hail (rice size) was observed on the 14th. The highest barometer reading was 30.47” on the 10th, the lowest reading was 29.67” on the 5th. Relative Humidity reached its maximum on the 8th at 100%, its minimum on the 29th and 30th at just 19%. Dew Points ranged from a high of 58° on the 23rd to a low of 19° on the 30th.
