TEMPERATURES: Though there were many pleasant days early on, Maximum Temperatures certainly warmed in the month’s second half. The coolest period occurred from 8th-16th when it never even reached 70°, with the month’s low Max. Temp. of 58.1° observed on the 12th. The hottest weather began on the 19th, reaching >90° on the 24th and 25th. In fact, the 99.1° on the 25th was the highest temperature since 7/30/2015 when it soared to 100.8°. Minimum Temperatures were relatively cool through June, especially early, falling to 43.4° on the 5th, and even 46.9° on the 21st. During the warmest part of the month, the Minimum Temperature only fell to 69.3° on the 25th, the highest such value since this station was established on 5/30/2014.

74.3°/53.4°/63.9°

Splitting the month in two, the Max/Min/Mean Temps were thus:

1st-17th: 67.7°/51.5°/59.6°

18th-30th: 81.9°/55.5°/68.7°.

PRECIPITATION: There were only two significant rain events this month, the 7th-11th and 15th-16th, providing 97% of the June total of 1.93″. The calendar-day Maximum of 0.50″ occurred on the 15th. In all, there were 10 days of measurable precipitation (≥0.01″), 4 of which were ≥0.25″. The month ended with 14 consecutive days of no measurable rain. For the period July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017, precipitation totaled 70.12″, with measurable amounts on 201 days. Snowfall totaled 16.0″ for this same time period, the maximum Calendar-Day amount being 8.5″ on Jan. 11, 2017 and a Storm total of 10.0″, covering Jan. 10th-11th. Measurable snow/sleet fell on 12 days, 27 days receiving ≥Trace. There were also 7 days with freezing rain, the maximum ice accretion reaching 0.1″ on 1/8/2017.

MISCELLANEOUS: The month saw the following number of days: 8 Clear, 12 Partly Cloudy, and 10 Cloudy. Just 7 days of Fog were observed, only 1 of these being heavy (<1/4 mile visibility); there were no days with Fog after the 16th.

  1. Awesome summary! Unfortunately, I was in Seattle for the mega snowstorm back in January, but I’m hopeful next winter will bring a few more flakes.
