PRECIPITATION

After an unusually wet September (4.20″), this October was quite dry in comparison as the total of 2.62″ was only 64% of the normal monthly average of 4.09″. The first 15 days of October only saw 0.52″ of rain, just 19.9% of the month’s total; the second half was more October-like as 9 days recorded measurable rain from the 16th-26th. Unexpected thunderstorms rolled through the area on the 26th, moving in the unusual direction northeast to southwest, accompanied by small hail for a few minutes in the evening and a very bright partial double rainbow that lasted for about 20 minutes. However, this was the last precipitation seen this month as a dry streak began, continuing into November.
