Author & Website Administrator – Jeff Taylor
Jeff developed an early passion for weather and began observing and recording personal weather data when about 10 years old. Snowstorms were a favorite weather event when growing up in Maryland. He took meteorology and climatology courses at Frostburg State University but majored in Geography, emphasizing Cartography as a career. He greatly missed snow when living in San Francisco and the Bay Area for 16 years. Now that he lives in the Portland area (the one in Oregon but is named after the one in Maine), he is happy to be able to measure it again. Jeff is also a former National Weather Service COOP observer but had to give it up upon moving west. Jeff has enjoyed learning about and observing the weather patterns in the Pacific Northwest, having established his Davis Vantage Pro2 automated weather equipment and manual Lake Region rain gauge (the latter for the CoCoRaHS precipitation network) in May 2014.

UPDATE: As of mid-March, 2024, Jeff moved from Oregon to the California desert and the current data for his Happy Valley station is no longer available. However, all historical data will be kept as an archive on the happyvalleywx.weathertogether.net website. Jeff is enjoying learning about the weather patterns and other things in the Colorado Desert of the Coachella Valley.
