On March 14th, the maximum temperature here in Happy Valley reached 61.2° under full sunshine, the first reading ≥60° since Nov. 4, 2018 – that is 130 days in between readings of that value. It was also the warmest temperature since 61.5° on Nov. 2, 2018. Over the next few days there is a chance we could even peak at 70°, a pinnacle we have not reached since Oct. 18, 2019 when it was 70.3°. And, not that we’re even close…

In fact, the Portland Airport (PDX) recorded its second-warmest January Mean Temperature since records began there in 1939, nearly 80 years ago! It was a very dry and record-warm August in Happy Valley. TEMPERATURES: August started out very hot with two consecutive days exceeding 100° (2nd & 3rd), with the month’s maximum on the 2nd hitting 101.3°. Though quite hot for this area, these maximum temperatures were likely somewhat suppressed due to rather thick wildfire smoke blowing down from British Columbia and northern Washington.
