TEMPERATURES April 2023 continued the relentless cool, damp weather that has persisted since mid-October. Maximum Temperatures didn’t even reach 60° until April 14th, the first time reaching that value since back on March 22nd, 28 days ago. TEMPERATURES Overall, February was a colder-than-usual month, averaging 3 to 4 degrees below Normal. As happened in 2022, February 2023 was a topsy-turvy one as the warmest weather was at the beginning of the month while the coldest and most of the snowy weather waited until the final week. TEMPERATURES December 2022 at Portland’s three official stations reported Average Temperature Departures-from-Normal ranging from -2.6° at the Portland International Airport (PDX) to -3.8° at the Portland National Weather Service Forecast Office (WFO) in the Park Rose neighborhood. Through the first 2/3 of the month, the weather was fairly uneventful temperature-wise. TEMPERATURES April 2022 was quite a chilly one as nearly every day this month averaged below Normal. In fact, only a day or two averaged more than a +1° departure from Normal.  The warmest day, oddly, occurred early in the month with a Max/Min/Mean on the 7th of 73.5°/50.6°/62.1°, and no other day even came close (the second-warmest was on the 24th with 70.5°/41.2°/55.9°). TEMPERATURES Though winter took awhile to arrive, the cold weather that finally came in February continued into the first half of this month. Overall, temperatures this March averaged slightly below normal. Old Man Winter finally decided to show his face for the second half, not only with temperatures but also with snowfall.
