PRECIPITATION

March was above Normal as the total of 5.83″ was 110% of the Average of 5.31″ but with a caveat. Due to the precipitation observation time being 7:00 AM, more than 3/4 of the 1.52″ that was recorded on March 1st actually fell after 7:00 AM on February 28th (this total was also the highest daily amount all month). Overall, 20 days in March had measurable rain, seven of which were ≥0.25″. Though there were 9 days with measurable rain in the first half of the month and 11 days in the second half, by far, the majority of the month’s precipitation occurred in the first half. From the 1st-15th, 4.58″ was recorded, leaving only another 1.25″ from the 16th-31st to be added to the March total, with a percentage-wise split of 78.6%/21.4% between these 2 periods.
