HAPPY VALLEY, OREGON WEATHER: OCTOBER 2020
TEMPERATURES
October 2020 had a warm start, then gradually cooled as the month progressed. Six of the first nine days saw temperatures reaching ≥70°, the 9th seeing the final such reading of the month with 70.6°; Maximum Temperatures reached no higher than the mid-60s through the remainder of the month. The highest daily Maximum Temperature for the month was 78.6° on the 2nd, the lowest Maximum being just 44.3° on the 25th during the period in which 15 of the final 22 days of the month remained ≤60°. Minimum Temperatures did not vary much the first half of the month, ranging from 56.3° to 50.5° through the first 13 days, then began a bit of a roller coaster thereafter, the coldest period occurring from the 22nd-28th with a range of 33.8° to 39.5°, accompanied by the first frosts of the season on the 22nd & 27th. Overall, Temperatures averaged about 1° above the normal for October, the warmth in the first part being mostly balanced by the continued cool air in the middle and later periods. The Maximum Diurnal Temperature range was 24.6° (78.6°/54.0°) on the 2nd, the least was just 6.2° (60.3°/54.1°) on the 8th.
PRECIPITATION
It was a very dry start to the month as not a drop of rain was recorded until a few minutes before the 10th of October, starting a typically wet period for this time of year as measurable rain fell on 6 consecutive days (9th-14th). However, the month then returned to an unusually dry period with only 2 more days of measurable rain through the end of the month. The October precipitation total of 2.23″ was only 54.5% of the normal monthly average of 4.09″, with just 8 days recording measurable precipitation. Thunder occurred, accompanied by small hail during the afternoon of the 10th, followed by a nice rainbow.

MISCELLANEOUS
Sky Cover: 11 Clear, 15 Partly Cloudy, and 5 Cloudy days.
Barometric Pressure ranged from a maximum of 30.57″ (15th) to a minimum of 29.66″ (10th).
Relative Humidity peaked at 100% (12th, 30th) and reached a Minimum of 39% (25th).
Dew Point went from a maximum of 67° (2nd) to a minimum of 18° (26th).
Wind averaged just 0.2 MPH and the Maximum Gust reached 19 MPH (31st, the same day that the anemometer was raised from 10 feet to 21 feet above the ground for better exposure).
