Portland, Oregon Weather: July 2022 Record Warmth
The year 2022 continued the trend of warm months of July in the Portland area. Five of the Top-10 Warmest Julys have occurred since 2014 and eight of the Top-10 since 2003. At the Portland Airport (PDX), where official records have been kept since 1940, several daily records were broken, especially on the warm Minimum side. This month’s Average Minimum Temperature of 61.8° was the warmest for any month of the year since records began.
July temperatures averaged close to the Normal through the 23rd with Maximum Temperatures in the 70s the first week and two brief periods of low-to-mid 90s (11th-12th and 19th-20th) before dropping back into the 70s on the 22nd-23rd. Minimum Temperatures remained in the mid-50s to low-60s through the 24th. Then the heat really kicked on, with Maxs staying above 90° the remainder of the month (including 3 days reaching 100° (102° on the 26th & 30th, 100° on the 29th)) and Minimums spiking through the final week, ranging from 66°-69°, breaking two Warm Minimum daily records during that period.
