TEMPERATURES
November 2021 Temperatures were above Normal in the area, with the following ranges of departures from Normal between the three official Portland weather stations (Portland International Airport (PDX), KGW-TV (Downtown), and the Weather Forecast Office (Parkrose Neighborhood): Maximums +1.6 to +2.5°, Minimums +2.4° to +4.1°, providing Means of +2.0° to +3.3°.
During the first half of the month here in Happy Valley, Maximum Temperatures were running fairly close to Normal until the 11th-14th, with departures well-above where they should be this time of year, reaching a monthly Max. of 65.3° on the 14th. The second half of the month cooled to more seasonable levels as highs remained ≤50° from the 20th-24th before rebounding into the 50s to 60° to end the month.
For Minimum Temperatures, nearly every day from the 1st-15th was above Normal, with the highest departure being on the 14th when the Min. Temp. only sank to 56.5°, the highest Min. of the month. From the 16th-25th, there were many below-Normal Mins, including the season’s first freezing temperature on the 21st with 32.1°. Then a very warm period closed out the month as temperatures remained in the middle 40s to low 50s.
Splitting the month in two, these were the Max/Min/Mean Temperatures: 1st-15th, 56.1°/45.6°/50.8°; 16th-30th, 52.0°/41.9°/46.9°.
The Maximum Diurnal Range was 20.4° (60.7°/40.3°) on the 15th, the Minimum was just 4.3° (50.9°/46.6°) on the 1st.
PRECIPITATION
Rainfall was consistent throughout this November, with no more than 2 consecutive days being without measurable precipitation (13th-14th, with Trace amounts both days; 16th-17th; and 20th-21st, with a Trace on the 20th). Overall, 23 days recorded measurable rain, with the maximum daily amount being 1.66″ on the 12th. The maximum rain rate for the month was 1.50″/Hr on the 6th. The monthly total of 8.44″ was 121% of the Normal of 6.97″ for this location, based on the 1991-2020 PRISM Normals from the Northwest Alliance for Computational Science & Engineering (NACSE), based at Oregon State University.

Averages were a Maximum/Minimum of 51°/42°, with a Daily Maximum of 61° on the 11th & 14th, Daily Minimum of 31° on the 21st.
Wind:
The Daily Average Speed was 1.2 MPH and the highest Daily Average was 3.3 MPH on the 17th; the Daily Average Gust was 14.6 MPH and the Highest Gust reached 26 MPH from the SE on the 15th and SSW on the 19th.
